Appellate Writs

A strongly written, perfectly timed appellate writ can change the entire direction of litigation.

When you need review and you need it now

You generally don’t get appellate review in your case until the very end. A writ of mandamus (or mandate) is a risky and complicated maneuver, but it can be a lifesaver when you need an appellate court to step in early.

No one has the appellate writ experience we do

Our appellate writs group is unique. Several of our attorneys spent decades evaluating nothing but appellate writs for justices of the California Court of Appeal — we’re the only firm in California with that kind of experience. What you get is lawyers who live and breathe appellate writs, and lawyers who do nothing else.

Examples of appellate writ petitions we’ve written

Appellate courts generally have complete discretion whether to even consider an appellate writ petition. It takes the kind of insight that only former appellate court writs attorneys such as ours have — and we’re the only law firm in the state that has them.

Appellate writs have short deadlines, so contact us as soon as you can

Appellate writs often come with fast timelines, sometimes a matter of days, and steep odds without careful preparation. Many clients call us even before filing high-stakes motions that may need a writ if wrongly decided. The earlier, the better.
