CALG’s Claudia Ribet and Charles Kagay have won a victory in the California Court of Appeal’s Second District that affirmed a sanctions ruling in their client’s favor of $700,000.
The appellate court agreed with the trial court that the opposing party had engaged in bad faith litigation conduct which had discouraged settlement, needlessly lengthened court proceedings, and unreasonably increased court costs. The court rejected all the appellants’ arguments, including that the amount of the award would be financially overwhelming.
