She represents and advises clients in the California Courts of Appeal and Ninth Circuit. Jennifer also assists trial counsel on motions and during trial with an eye towards optimally positioning cases for appeal, and she has an active amicus practice.
Jennifer’s varied and sophisticated appellate work has ranged from business contractual disputes to property partitions, from community property and parentage to federal class actions, from spousal support to attorney’s fees.
Jennifer spent five years as a staff attorney on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit, where she acquired behind-the-scenes insight into the Ninth Circuit’s practices and procedures. She also served as counsel to the State Bar Court’s appellate division, where she analyzed scores of attorney discipline appeals, learned the unique rules and processes that govern them, and helped the State Bar Court’s appellate judges draft numerous published and unpublished opinions. In those roles, Jennifer developed an intense awareness of how appellate judges of all types make decisions.
For several years after law school, she practiced high-stakes civil litigation with Farella, Braun + Martel LLP in San Francisco. She earned her undergraduate degree in English from Stanford University.
